When family and friends come together after losing someone, there can be a lot to organise in a short amount of time.
The Upperhouse gives you a private place to spend time together, share stories and remember someone important to you.
Our Events team can look after the room, food, drinks and practical details, so you have less to organise.
Our private rooms can accommodate different group sizes, and we’ll help you find an option that suits the number of people you’re expecting.
Manhattan suits larger gatherings, with room for a seated memorial service or speeches, or a cocktail-style gathering where guests can move around and spend time with family and friends.
Menzies suits smaller gatherings, keeping family and friends together in a more intimate space for a memorial service, speeches or time spent together.
Beadman suits small, intimate wakes, keeping close family and friends together around the table or over drinks.
It also works well for a smaller gathering or a private lunch with family.
The Atrium and Rooftop Terrace give guests another place to spend time together, catch up over a drink or step away for a quiet conversation during the gathering.
These are shared Upperhouse spaces. Exclusive use can be arranged when all three private function rooms are hired together.
For many wakes and celebrations of life, food that guests can help themselves to works well, leaving people free to move around, talk and spend time together.
Our Celebration of Life Package includes options such as sandwiches, hot savoury platters, sliders, antipasto, cheese, seasonal fruit and a selection of sweets. Tea and coffee can also be arranged throughout the gathering.
If choosing the food feels like one decision too many, you don’t have to work it all out yourself. Tell us roughly how many people you’re expecting, what you’d like to offer and the budget you’re working with. Our Events team and Executive Chef Wayne Alger can help put together an option from there.
For drinks, we can set up an on-consumption bar tab with your choice of beverages and a spending limit agreed in advance.
Let our Events team know about any dietary requirements and we’ll work through the available options with you.
We’ve put together answers to some of the questions we hear most often. If there’s something we haven’t covered, our team is happy to help.
