There isn’t one way to celebrate a wedding here.
Around 20 minutes from Canberra, The Upperhouse is hidden upstairs at the Royal Hotel Queanbeyan. Our Events team works with you to shape the day around what matters to you, with wedding menus by Executive Chef Wayne Alger and the flexibility to hold your ceremony and reception with us or simply join us for the celebration afterwards.
The Upperhouse has been recognised as the best Wedding Venue – Boutique Hotel at the Wedding Industry Awards for the Canberra & Snowy Mountains region four times, along with a Highly Commended recognition.
Most weddings at The Upperhouse centre around the Manhattan Room, but there’s more than one way to use the spaces across your day. From getting ready and saying your vows to drinks, dinner and dancing, different parts of The Upperhouse can become part of your wedding.
A light-filled, spacious room, emphasizing the authentic features of the building’s era, but think luxe, with a feature marble bar and champagne velvet curtains.
rom 50 guests, there’s room for dinner, speeches, music and dancing, with the option to hold your ceremony and reception in the same space.
For a more intimate wedding, Menzies keeps everyone close around the table. Bifold doors open directly onto the Rooftop Terrace, giving guests another space to catch up over a drink during the celebration.
Some weddings are meant to be shared with just a chosen few. Beadman suits intimate weddings, elopements and celebrations after the vows, keeping the people you’ve chosen to share the day with together.
Often an unexpected surprise for first-time guests, the Atrium and Rooftop Terrace can host your ceremony or those in-between moments after the vows, from the first drink to photographs and catching up before dinner.
With exclusive use of The Upperhouse, our function spaces can come together for cocktail-style weddings of up to 300 guests.
Executive Chef Wayne Alger brings years of experience from some of the region’s best-known kitchens, including Bathers Pavilion, XO and The Inn, with his background also including involvement in weddings at Pialligo Estate.
Wayne’s approach centres on fresh, local produce and what’s in season. He has brought that same thinking to the wedding menus at The Upperhouse, with options for cocktail receptions, plated dining and shared grazing menus.
Your Events Manager will work through the menu, beverage options and dietary requirements with you, helping you choose what suits your guests and the way you want to celebrate.
The Royal Suite gives you somewhere private to get ready onsite, with natural light, mirrors and dedicated places for your hair and make-up team, and room for the wedding party to be part of the preparations too.
Keep your belongings there throughout the day, come back when you need a moment to freshen up and when the celebrations are over, the room is ready for the newlyweds to spend the night.
Our plated and grazing wedding packages include a night in the Royal Suite with breakfast for two. For cocktail weddings, you can add the Royal Suite to your package.
Photos can show you a lot, but there’s nothing quite like walking through the spaces and beginning to picture your own wedding here.
Tell us a little about what you’re planning and our Events team will be in touch to arrange a time to show you around The Upperhouse, talk through your wedding and how you’d like the day to come together.
